When it comes to who we are, the majority of us find that we end up conforming to the standards of society. Is it really fun to simply run with the crowd? Our inner drive makes us who we are and why should we work to hide it just because society does not think it is “normal”. Who actually develops the standards for what constitutes as “normal” anyways? Do not let society stop you from unleashing you inner drive! Be unique, go against what the status quo thinks and develop an identity for yourself that truly demonstrates your individuality. Being unique and being weird should not hinder you from reaching your potential, ALLOW IT TO BE YOUR INNER DRIVE! Author Seth Godin has recently introduced a book called “We Are All Weird:The Myth of Mass and the End of Compliance” in which he discusses the matter of not conforming to societies expectations. I would encourage you all to check out his book, it is a real eye opener!
Remember to join us at the 7th floor kiosk of the Ted Rogers School of Business Management building every Tuesday and Thursday in January as we will be showcasing the many events to be taking place at the conference. DON’T FORGET to take part in our video CHALLENGE!! We would like all delegates to send us a video in which you display your inner drive. By doing so, you have a chance of winning a FREE ticket to the conference. Contest rules are listed here: http://ryersontrmc.ca/about-trmc/videochallenge/. Create your video NOW as the contest deadline is January 20th 2012 at midnight.
From the entire TRMC committee we encourage you all to be weird and wacky- to represent yourself regardless of what others may think of you.
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” – Dr. Seuss
