The Herbie Fund

The Herbie Fund brings children from around the world to The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) for life-saving or life-altering surgeries – surgeries that are not available to them in their home countries because of lack of medical expertise. Thanks to the Herbie Fund, hundreds of children are leading full, healthier, and more productive lives. Together we can help many more children and shape the future of communities all over the world.

The Herbie Fund

Each year, The Herbie Fund makes possible specialized surgeries for children in need, thanks to the generous support of our donors and the dedication of SickKids doctors, nurses and other clinicians from a wide range of medical specializations.

The Herbie Fund covers treatment expenses, including hospital stays, tests, procedures, and clinical appointments. SickKids physicians waive their fees, so the dollars raised go directly to the medical treatments that help children.

All Herbie Fund applications are put through a rigorous medical review process and Herbie Funds are stewarded with care, professionalism, equity and due diligence.

Communities Helping Communities

The Herbie Fund inspires people here in Canada to collaborate for the purpose of changing a child’s life. Community groups come together to provide both social and financial support for families coming to Canada for their children’s treatment.

The Fund is supported by an energetic and committed volunteer-based fundraising group that has inspired communities to invest in child health for over 30 years.

Every June, the Herbie Fund organizes Herbie Day, an event that reaches out into the community and raises awareness and support through a CityTV telethon, hosted by Gord Martineau.

Through donor support, more than 671 children from 101 countries have received specialized surgical assistance.
